December 29th 2009, New Delhi: Controversies aside, the 2009 Golfing Calendar has been really eventful.

2009 witnessed some jaw-dropping scores being posted in Professional events all over the world. We, at 4moles.com enjoyed covering every bit of it and bringing you the events for the Year 2009.

Chapchai Nirat of Thailand came to India for SAIL OPEN in March, to break the world record with a total score of -32 for the tournament. This was after India's Jyoti Randhawa had gone to Thailand and claimed a stake at SINGHA THAILAND OPEN by becoming the first Indian to win the event.

At the end of AUGUSTA MASTERS in the USA during the month of April, we saw Angel Cabrera (ARG) wear The Green Jacket.

The first Asian-born to win a Major was Y.E. Yang of Korea who overcame a daunting task to beat Tiger Woods in the 91st PGA CHAMPIONSHIP.

The period from March till September saw young Gaganjeet Bhullar dominate the Indian circuit under PGTI with an international win over at INDONESIA PRESIDENT INVITATIONAL. He had also made an appearance at the THE 138th OPEN CHAMPIONSHIP in Scotland.

A crowd-favourite moment came in October 2009 when C. Muniyappa won the playoff against Lee Sung (KOR) at HERO HONDA INDIAN OPEN 2009 in DLF Golf & Country Club.

Asians saw the superstars of Golf descend in Hong Kong for WGC - HSBC CHAMPIONS which was won by Phil Mickelson (USA).

The same month, November, also consisted of the European Tour's season-ending event - DUBAI WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP. Lee Westwood conquered and how! He posted a total score of -23 in the newly inaugrated Jumeirah Golf Estate - Earth Course, to not only win the tournament but also finish at the top of European Tour's Order of Merit.

Next-in-line was OMEGA MISSION HILLS WORLD CUP which had 28 nations vying for Golf supremacy. Irish duo of Graeme McDowell and Rory McIlroy had made their intentions clear right from the start. They seemed to be cruising along just fine until Day 4 of the event saw Italy's Edoardo Molinari and Fransesco Molinari climb into contention. Ultimately, the Molinari brothers won the World Cup on the 72nd hole.

With a few more days for the end of the year, golf enthusiasts can hope for more action-packed Golfing in 2010.
