The Golf season is done and dusted for another year and 2018 is all geared up to descend upon us– which means it’s time to take a stock of the record breakers who have made their mark on the global Golf turf this year.
Here’s a closer look at the some of the record-breaking accomplishments in the Golf terrain this year!
Justin Thomas breaks US Open record for the lowest score!

Now, this one is unfathomable. In a stupendous display of Golf, Justin Thomas broke the record for lowest score relative to par in U.S. Open history during his third round at Erin Hills.
The ace Golfer shot a nine-under 63, breaking Johnny Miller's previous record of eight-under, which he carded at Oakmont in 1973.
The first player to shoot a 62 in a major championship!

South Africa’s professional Golfer Branden Grace generated a lot of buzz when he became the first-ever player to shoot a 62 in the 2017 Open Championship that was held at Royal Birkdale.
Interestingly, in 157 years of majors, a 63 has been shot 32 times by 30 players (Haotong Li being the last to do so with a 63 during the final round of The 2017 Open)
Sergio Garcia ends title drought after 74 attempts

Sergio Garcia made history by winning the Augusta Masters and ending his Majors drought after 74 attempts — four-time runner-up and 22 top ten finishes. He battled Justin Rose for three more ferocious holes and got to the 18th green with a 5-footer for birdie to win.
Now, that’s quite incredible!
Aditi Ashok creates history

2017 proved to be an amazing year for Aditi Ashok as she made history by becoming the first player from India to contest all five majors on the Ladies Professional Golf Association (LPGA) Tour in one season. In an exclusive interview with 4moles.com, she had said that she had some wacky Golf superstitions. On a lighter note, probably, these superstitions worked for her!
The youngest Indian to win on the European Tour

Leading his way, 21-year-old Shubhankar Sharma played his heart out in the energy-sapping Joburg Open to claim his first ever European Tour Title. With this win, he not only created history by becoming the youngest Indian to win on the European Tour but also secured his berth in the prestigious British Open next year.
The lanky lad from Chandigarh, who turned professional after winning the All India Amateur Golf Championship in 2013 as a 17-year-old schoolboy, has five wins on the PGTI and has been a regular on the Asian tour since 2015.
2017 was a really interesting year, with many record breaking feats taking place. Which one is your favourite?
