Ruoning Yin went on a ball-striking display throughout the weekend, and on the 72nd hole, she curled in a 10-footer for birdie to claim her first major title.
On Sunday at Baltusrol in Springfield Township, New Jersey, the 20-year-old Yin beat Yuka Saso by one stroke to win the Women's PGA Championship. She completed her final 37 greens in regulation, including her final 18 as part of a bogey-free, 4-under 67.

Ruoning Yin
"My ball-striking was perfect the last couple of days," Yin added. "... Before the round today, I simply told my physio that my objective was to avoid three-putts. If I don't make any three-putts, I don't care if I win or not. And I did it.
Saso, the 2021 U.S. Women's Open champion, who had missed four consecutive major cuts coming into this week, got up and down for a birdie from the left bunker at the par-5 18th hole to shoot 66 and record 7 under, which put some pressure on Yin, who was playing in the group behind her.

Aditi Ashok
Aditi Ashok placed 76th overall in the competition. She trailed behind the winner by 22 over par.
The 54-hole low score for this competition was held by Leona Maguire, who had an 8-under winning score. However, on Sunday, Maguire and her rivals from the final group, Stephanie Meadow and Jenny Shin, together shot 3 over. Maguire, who started the day one shot ahead of Shin, had a 74 and fell to T-11.

Rose Zhang
Rose Zhang came within a hair's breadth of winning her second match in a row since turning professional and her first major championship. She was only one shot down of the leader after her first 11 holes, which she completed in 5 under, but she pulled her tee ball at the par-3 16th hole, recording a bogey.
Rose finished with two pars on the final two holes to finish at 4-under 67 and tie for eighth place at 5-under. In nine major starts, Zhang's top-10 finish was his first of his career.
To be honest, Zhang acknowledged that his first week at Mizuho was quite weird. I didn't feel like a professional, I admit. I was directly coming off the NCAAs, and in my mind it was just sort of a test run. My career was only getting started, so I didn't really have any expectations. Even this week, I didn't have any sort of expectations for myself, but I did want to see how my game fared against professionals and to see whether or not I could be competitive on good days, terrible days, etc.
" It's really cool to see that my game is there, and I just have to work a little extra harder to play better."
