Shubhankar Sharma is a man on a mission and his stature is growing with each tournament. After playing his first Major in the form of Masters this April, the extremely talented Golfer has earned a berth in the prestigious US Open.

Shubhankar will play in the year’s third Major, the British Open, too as he had qualified for the tournament after winning the Joburg Open.
The 21-year-old became the fifth Indian golfer — and the youngest from the country — to qualify for the US Open after he finished tied-fifth in the 36-hole sectional qualifier held at Brookside Golf Club and Lakes Golf Club in Ohio.
In an exclusive brief interaction with 4moles.com, proud father Col Mohan Sharma enthused, “We are extremely happy and proud that our son is a part of all four Majors this year. It is definitely a proud moment for all of us and we hope he continues to do well for his country and for himself.”
He added, “When Shubhankar was 19, it was his first attempt to qualify for the US Open. Though he missed the cut, he was more determined to feature in the most coveted second Major of the year.”

Two other Indians — Shiv Kapur, playing the qualifier at Walton Heath, Surrey, and Arjun Atwal, playing in Tennessee — failed to earn a spot for the US Open, to be played at Shinnecock Hills, New York, from June 14.
As Shubhankar qualified for the US Open, his Twitter feed was inundated with congratulatory messages. Jeev Milkha Singh tweeted, “Absolutely delighted with the continued success of @shubhankargolf. The young man finds new ways of making us all proud. All the best for Shinnecock! The first @usopengolf experience is always something to savour.”
For the days to come, there’s no doubt that the 21-year-old player will set the Golfing arena on fire with his grit and determination.
