Thailand has one of the strongest talent pool in Golf and the latest Official World Golf Rankings (OWGR) bear testament to the same. According to the rankings, 5 Thailand’s ace Golfers Kiradech Aphibarnrat, Poom Saksansin, Jazz Janewattananond, Phachara Khongwatmai and Prayad Marksaeng now feature in the top 200 of the World Golf Rankings.

Let’s take a stock at the ace Golfers who have created an impact in the World Golf Rankings.

At a time when the competition on the Golfing turf is on the rise, securing your place in the top 50 is no mean feat. Kiradech Aphibarnrat, who currently stands at 50, recently earned his ticket to the prestigious 2018 Masters.
His passion for Golf kicked off since he was a kid. Kiradech’s father used to take him golfing while he was supposed to be at school. There were even times where he could pass his homework off to someone else, just as long as he was playing his pet game.

The Thai Golfer is currently ranked 134th. At the age of 14 years, he became the youngest golfer to make the cut on the Asian Tour in the Asian Tour International in Nakhon Pathom in 2010.
In September 2011 he played in his first Japan Golf Tour event, the 2011 Asia-Pacific Panasonic Open, where he made the cut and finished tied for 65th.

The 24-year-old Golfer became the toast of the nation in 2016 when he brilliantly produced a five-shot victory at the 2016 BNI Indonesian Masters presented by Zurich to earn his first Asian Tour title. Poom is placed at 169th position.
The fast-rising Thai professional Golfer, who wears confidence around him with elan and finesse, had said that pressure to perform hampers his game.

A tremendous inspiration to other young Golfers wielding the club, Phachara, who stands at 170, is pushing the envelope like never before.
The young Golf star first hit the headlines two-months after his 14th birthday in 2013 when he became the youngest-ever winner of a professional Golf tournament by taking the Sing Hua Hin Open on the ASEAN PGA tour.
At 15 and by then a professional Golfer, he added Asian Tour victory in his bag of accolades, another age record. This was followed by securing his first place at The Open and then claiming the Boonchu Ruangkit Championship and with it the final Asian Tour card for the season.

Prayad represented Thailand at the 2007 and 2008 Omega Mission Hills World Cup and earlier has been featured in the top 100 of the Official World Golf Ranking. Now, the Thai Golfer stands at the 187th position.
He learned to play golf in Hua Hin as he had to walk through a golf course daily to get to school. His first club was made with bamboo and a piece of scrap metal. Not many know but he was tipped by Greg Norman to be a world-class player after the Aussie great played alongside him in the Dubai Desert Classic in 1996 and Norman again was impressed when the two played together in the BMW Asian Open in 2004.
