The cat is out of the bag and the Official World Golf Ranking (OWGR) rankings have been revealed. While American Professional Golfer Dustin Johnson occupies the numero uno position in the rankings with total points of 487.36, Jordan Spieth, a three-time major winner, is placed in the second position with total points of 458.17.

Dustin Johnson has cruised his way to the top in 2017
His dear friend Justin Thomas gives him a neck-to-neck competition and occupies the third position with total points of 447.05.
While OWGR has unveiled the best of the best in its latest ranking, let’s take a stock of the Indian Golfers who have topped the charts.

1. Anirban Lahiri

According to the OWGR, that has been endorsed as an incredible system by the four major championships and six major professional tours, Anirban Lahiri-who is placed at the 69th position, is the highest-ranking Indian Golfer with total points of 103.8. Having played 55 events, he has gained 94.19 points in 2017. It would not be out of place to say that the Indian Ace Golfer is still a cynosure of eyes!
2. Gaganjeet Bhullar

India’s star Golfer Gaganjeet Bhullar won headlines and hearts when he clinched the Macau Open for the second time. The 29-year-old Golfer from Amritsar is the second-highest ranked Indian Golfer, with a position of 160, as per the Official World Golf Ranking. Having played 43 events in 2017, the player has total points of 46.23. Now, that’s interesting!
Shiv Kapur

Shiv Kapur hit the headlines by winning the Panasonic Open Title that was held at the Delhi Golf course (his home course) in November 2017. The win catapulted him to the top of the Panasonic Swing, which is an aggregate points race that spans five events – in Thailand, India, Indonesia, Malaysia and Japan.
According to OWGR, he is the third-highest ranked Indian Golfer, who stands at a position of 202. Interestingly, it’s a huge jump for Kapur as he moved from 718 position in 2016 to 202 position in 2017.
Shubhankar Sharma

The world woke up to the power of Shubhankar Sharma when he showcased mettle to seal his first European title at the Joburg Open. With this victory, he secured a berth at the prestigious British Open, which would be held in 2018. The 21-year-old golfer is just three spots behind Shiv Kapur and is placed at the 205th position.
With the growing popularity of Indian Golfers, it would be interesting to see what’s in store for them in the forthcoming year. Till then, watch this space for more interesting updates.
