It's just a few days passed since the start of new year and it has started already shaping up to be a repetition of 2020 and 2021, as the rising Omicron variation has forced a number of golf tournaments around the country, including the PGTI's Q school, to be postponed.

Because the daily positive rate is currently 10.21%, state governments have enacted weekend and night curfews. As a result of the issue, golf bodies have already begun to take safeguards.

In the list of tournament which got cancelled includes major tours like

 Hero Indian Open -

The Indian Golf Union (IGU), the apex body for amateur golf, completed almost half of its amateur season in 2021 and had begun to announce a few events for 2022. The DP World (European) Tour has scheduled the US$ 2 million Hero Indian Open for February 24-27 at DLF GC, however the resumption of India's most important tournament is dependent on the COVID-19 situation in India.

Hero Women’s Pro Events -

The Hero Women's Pro Golf Tour (Hero WPGT), which just announced its first four events for the 2022 season, has rescheduled the first two, which were scheduled for Jan. 12-14 and Jan. 19-21 at Pune GC and Aamby Valley Resort, respectively.

It remains to be seen whether Legs 3 and 4 in Visakhapatnam and Mumbai, which are currently scheduled for February 15–18 and February 22–25, respectively, will be able to take place as planned.

The Hero Women’s Pro Tour suffered multiple halts in 2020-2021 because of the Covid pandemic but was still able to hold 24 tournaments across the two years. The tour is expected to return stronger as many of the top Indian girls who were playing in Europe during the second half of 2021, will be available to play in India in the early part of the year.

Club Golf Leagues -

It isn't just professional organisations that are being disrupted. Local clubs across India have chosen to postpone club leagues that were set to begin in January and February. The Bombay Presidency GC, Royal Calcutta GC, Bangalore GC, and Pune GC are among them.
