Betting on your favourite is a very common approach for a lot of bettors. The reason is that they know the play style of that challenger, and they trust him to do a good job. However, just like any other sport, golfing certainly has its fair share of challenges. It’s important to know what players you should bet on, but also what events tend to have the better odds.

Should you bet on favourites in golf?

Some of the most important golfing events to bet on

Generally, when you want to bet on golf players, you want to figure out which are some of the most important events. The Masters and US Open stand out among all golf players and this if obvious when you looke at the betting promotions for the events available from the largest online bookmakers. And on top of that, you also have the LPGA Tour in the UK, along with the Clutch Tour. There are cups you can bet on as well. These are the Presidents Cup, Solheim Cup, and Ryder Cup.

What are the best golf players to bet on?

Scottie Scheffler

Scottie Scheffler has +460 odds, and he had a very good year. He won The Masters and The Players Championship. Despite being just 28 years old, he already managed to accrue a large number of wins and only seems to be getting started. Is he a reliable bet? Despite his age, Scottie Scheffler seems to be a very good bet because he has been consistent, unlike many other competitors.

Rory McIlroy

Rory McIlroy has +750 odds and he is known for bringing in lots of top 6 finishes. He did have a less successful US Open presence, but his consistency and experience set him apart as a very good option for bettors.

Collin Morikawa

Collin Morikawa has 19/1 odds, and he is one of the most determined bettors at this time. He is one of the veterans, and thus, he has a lot of knowledge and expertise under his belt. That being said, we expect him to be a very serious contender.

Tyrrell Hatton

Tyrrell Hatton has 28/1 odds, and he’s won his first major tournament recently, something that didn’t happen for him in the past 3 years. However, despite not winning, Tyrrell Hatton has always been consistent and had good results in challengers and matches. In addition, he plays the short game but also the long game very well, which is great for someone interested in betting often.

Tommy Fleetwood

Tommy Fleetwood has odds ranging from 20/1 to 30/1. Despite that, he is extremely good at narrowing down the best opportunities. It’s one of the reasons why he won the DP World Tour at the Dubai Invitational. He’s definitely a good option to bet on, especially if you value consistency from a player. That being said, he is a top-10 player most of the time, so you won’t go wrong if you value him.

Shane Lowry

Shane Lowry might not have the best odds at 45/1, but he still is a very well-known player with a great track record. He won the Open Championship in Ireland in 2019. On top of that, he is also known for his focus on accuracy. Unlike other players, he actually thrives in windy conditions, something that proves to be very difficult for a lot of players. Additionally, he’s been a top 20 finisher over the past few years as well.

Corey Conners

Corey Conners has 60/1 odds, and he is known for being an elite ball striker. The Canadian has brought in a lot of great performances over the past years. With that in mind, he finished 13th at the Scottish Open, and he’s known for his striking capabilities, even if he’s not the best putter. With that in mind, his ball-striking abilities are incredible, and it’s one of the reasons why he is a favorite in many events.

Are golfers a reliable bet?

Like any other sport, golfing can be a game of chance; you never know what you can expect. Thankfully, studying the previous performance of a player can give you some idea of his track record. Even then, there can always be surprises. However, there are a few things to focus on outside of the player himself. Those include the weather, the current form of those players, the last few matches, course fit, and other info. All of that will help you identify the best course of action when it comes to betting.

Yet, as we said, betting on golfers will always be a game of chance. It certainly has its benefits if you go for a player that has a proven track record. But you can’t always be right, and that’s why you want to alleviate any losses by studying historical data and previous results for the player you want. Going for consistent golf players is usually the best approach because not only does that help alleviate concerns, but it can also lower any potential risks!
