Indian Open 2024, Day 1: Three Indians in Top-15 as Luiten, Nakajima and Manassero share lead

In the latest updates from the Indian Open, Dutch golfer Joost Luiten demonstrated his prowess with an impressive 7-under 67 at the challenging DLF Golf and Country Club. Luiten, a familiar face at the tournament, described the course as "demanding" yet expressed his fondness for it. Despite being winless on the DP World Tour since 2018, Luiten's performance showcased his comfort on the course.

Joining the fray was Japan's rising star, Keita Nakajima, who shared the top spot after the first round. Nakajima, a former world number one amateur, has made waves since turning professional, clinching victories and securing a coveted spot on the DP World Tour.

 

 

Italy's c also made a significant impact with a bogey-free 65, signaling a resurgence in his career after a dry spell. Meanwhile, the group at 4-under included three Indian talents – Aman Raj, c, and Karandeep Kochhar, each displaying promising performances on their home turf.

Reflecting on his round, Chouhan emphasized the importance of the Indian Open for his ranking and future prospects. Aman Raj echoed similar sentiments, crediting his steady performance to his caddie, Arjun Prasad.

Notable Indian players like Shubhankar Sharma and Gaganjeet Bhullar navigated through the course, with Sharma expressing satisfaction despite a few setbacks. However, former champion Anirban Lahiri faced challenges, finishing 5-over and facing a potential early exit from the tournament.

 

 

As the competition heated up, players like Jordan Smith, Sam Bairstow, and Romain Langasque showcased their skills with impressive rounds, further intensifying the battle for supremacy at the Indian Open.
